Self-Care For The Mind & Body

Life is constantly happening around us and to us. It’s easy to get wrapped up in fulfilling what we need to do and what we want to do. We often forget the simple things, even when those simple things make the biggest differences. The majority of people these days are so busy taking care of the world around them that they forget to take care of the world inside them. With that being said, it is so important to take care of yourself first! The rest will follow. Now that may sound selfish at first, but it’s not! Quite the opposite. If you don't first invest in yourself, then those that you invest in don’t get the best of you. It’s a ripple effect!!! When you thrive, all the other aspects in your life will as well. However, me-time and self-care tend to be one of the first things we push to the side for many reasons. This subject has been talked about quite a lot recently and for good reason! What exactly is self-care? According to Harvard Medical School, “Self-care means paying attention to and supporting one’s own physical and mental health.”

In today’s world it can be hard to focus on yourself and your own needs. That’s why I created this easy-to-follow guide to proper self care for the mind and body! First, it is crucial to BUILD A FOUNDATION within yourself!

Sleep well

Sleep can have an enormous effect on how you feel physically, emotionally, and mentally. Poor sleep is linked to depression, increased inflammation, higher body weight, and higher risk for heart disease, diabetes, and stroke. Benefits of getting enough sleep, at least 7-9 hours a night, helps prevent weight gain, helps strengthen your heart, improves memory, boosts immune system, improves concentration and productivity, and even puts you in a better mood.

Be physically active

Move that body! We all know exercise is good for us, but do you know exactly how important it is? Not only does engaging in physical activity benefit your body by helping maintain a healthy weight and fight against disease and other health conditions, it also benefits your mental and emotional well-being. Regular exercise literally makes you happier! When you exercise your body releases chemicals called endorphins that interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain, providing the body with a positive feeling. There are MANY ways to get your body moving! Try yoga, going for a walk, or if you’re like me and want the best results in the least amount of time check out my One and Done exercise routine. Who has the time for countless hours in the gym? I sure don’t! Life is busy and hectic, but making time for your physical health is important. That’s why I created a one-of-a-kind regimen that you can do in the comfort of your home for only 7 minutes a day! That’s right, you heard me… only 7 minutes a day!
